Algae Removal Service
|
Algae removal can be a persistent issue in swimming pools and spas. Property owners struggle with this problem most often in the summer months, but it is a constant battle with pool water chemistry that can cause algae to occur on any month of the year. A common misperseption is that algae arrive in a swimming pool or spa simply due to the lack of chlorine, though most of the time there are other leading causes for this occurrence. Two most common tests that are not performed for a swimming pool or spa’s water chemistry related to algae are total dissolved solids and phosphate levels.
TOTAL DISOLVED SOLIDS: This is a combination of mineral and metal concentrations in your pool or spa.
PHOPHATE LEVELS: Phosphate levels rise due to the constant introduction of organic material such as landscape debris, fertilizers and many other common sources.
Total dissolved solids reach a boiling point in a swimming pool or spa at 2500 ppb, unless it is a salt water swimming pool. If so, test the salt levels and subtract from the total dissolved solids to determine if you are in need of draining and restarting the pool or spa.
Phosphates play a very significant role in the production of algae in a swimming pool or spa. Levels exceeding 150 ppb serve as food and stimulate the algae to bloom at a much faster rate. Phosphates should be treated to insure the fight to be free of algae is being won. Everything Swimming Pools has been doing these treatments for years and have become very knowledgeable in treating each pool or spa with the professional attention they need.
Call or e-mail us today at Everything Swimming Pools so we can solve all of your swimming pool or spa’s algae problems.
The following are the steps involved in our standard algae removal package.
• Analyze all major components of water chemistry. (If water chemistry is bad, drain all or a portion of water.)
• Super chlorinate water.
• Add a measured dose of appropriate algaecide.
• Brush all affected surfaces.
• Run filtration system continuously for 24 hours.
• Return following day to vacuum up any remaining debris.
• Clean filter to remove any residual algae build-up.
• Balance water chemistry to proper Health Department recommendations.
• If high phosphate levels are present, for an additional fee, we add the phosphate treatment, circulate the pool with our portable filtration system, and finally vacuum and remove all phosphate fall-out. |

When we purchased our house, the pool needed lots of work. We spoke with several companies and almost all recommended we remodel, until we found Everything Swimmming Pools. They suggested to acid wash the plaster and clean and repair the pool tile. For a fraction of what we were quoted for remodeling, our pool now looks great. Their staff was easy to work with and professional. I will recommend Everything Swimming Pools to all my friends.

It was such a comfort to know that Everything Swimming Pools could not only clean my pool’s tile, but do so without draining the pool. We were able to swim the same day! Thanks for all your hard work. I’m a believer!!
